Christian Women's Decision Making: How to Trust Your God-Given Wisdom

"The voice of fear demands certain proof; the voice of faith is content with confident trust."

Move from Overthinking to Confident Action

Let's be real... how many decisions are sitting in your "I'll pray about it more" folder right now? 😅

If you're like most Christian women I work with, your decision-making process probably looks something like this:

  • Pray about it (repeatedly)

  • Make a pro/con list (or five)

  • Ask everyone you know for advice

  • Look for "signs" to confirm

  • Second-guess yourself anyway

  • Repeat the cycle

Plot twist: This isn't actually wisdom – it's fear masquerading as responsibility.

The Hidden Cost of Decision Paralysis

Trust me, I've been there – staying up late, mentally rehearsing every possible outcome, terrified of making the wrong choice. I thought I was being prudent and faithful, but I was actually stuck in a cycle that was:

  • Draining my peace

  • Keeping me from moving forward

  • Causing me to miss opportunities

  • Teaching me to distrust my own discernment

The most painful part? I believed God wanted this from me – this exhausting overthinking, this constant second-guessing. I didn't feel like I could choose well, by myself.

What Scripture Actually Says About Decisions

When I discovered that the Bible doesn't actually portray decision-making as this agonizing process. Mind blown.

Look at these examples straight outta the Good Book!

  • Nehemiah made a bold request of the king without months of deliberation

  • Priscilla and Aquila moved their tent-making business multiple times

  • Lydia opened her home to Paul without a committee meeting

  • The Proverbs 31 woman "considers a field and buys it" – she doesn't form a focus group first!

These faithful people weren't paralyzed by decisions – they were guided by wisdom and moved with confidence.

The "E" in PEACE: Embrace Discernment

In my PEACE Framework, the "E" represents Embracing Discernment – learning to recognize and trust the wisdom God has already placed within you.

Here's what embracing discernment looks like:

  • Distinguishing between fear and wisdom

  • Recognizing when "seeking counsel" becomes avoidance

  • Trusting the internal compass God gave you

  • Making decisions and moving forward

  • Learning from outcomes rather than fearing them
